About Christ Community Church

Love God. Love People. Love Gainesville.

Christ Community Church was planted in 1997 in gator country. What began as a small group meeting in rented spaces throughout our growing city grew into a vibrant congregation located in west Gainesville. We seek to join Christ in his renewal of all things. We desire to participate in his work by experiencing and extending Christ’s renewing love throughout Gainesville.

By proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, we seek to ground all we do in the three foundational realities of the Gospel: a new world, a new record, and a new heart. In our corporate Worship, we rehearse the gospel of Jesus Christ through song, word, joyful giving, and sacrament.
In our Life Together, we are growing in grace, growing in faith, repentance, wisdom, and obedience as a community of disciples. We want to serve and walk with each other in life’s joys and sorrows through hospitality and intentional community. By Missional Living, we are pursuing faithful lives of mission where we live, work, and play. In Serving Gainesville, we are seeking the spiritual, social, and cultural welfare of greater Gainesville. In Multiplication, we help plant churches, foster global missions, and actively equip the emerging generation. Simply put - we want to Love God. Love People. Love Gainesville.

Love God.

Everyone loves. We are all worshippers. These unavoidable truths shape us. What loves will lead us to life? Through our worship, and specifically the means of grace (sacraments, scripture, and prayer), God stirs our affections and reminds us who we are in Christ. Informed by his word and empowered by his Spirit, we actively seek to love him more and more as we gather together in worship and discipleship.

Love People.

We are sinners saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is through this same grace that has welcomed us in Christ that we seek to welcome and to love. Imperfect people are welcome here in the name of Jesus, because "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) At Christ Community, we want to love others well and to broaden his table of hospitality just as he has extended it to us.

Love Gainesville.

The love of Christ should extend to where we live, work, and play. In the places where God has placed us, we want people to experience God's peace and shalom through his kingdom. Colossians 1 teaches that God is reconciling to himself "all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross." So moved and enabled by Christ's preeminence, we want to make a tangible and lasting impact in our city.

Core Beliefs

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), we affirm an orthodox, sacramental theology that influences the core of who we are and how we function as a church in Gainesville. More robust readings on our convictions can be found in the Westminster Confession of Faith, as well as its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. Read them here.

God and the Bible

We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God,
who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Salvation by Grace

We believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves
from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.

We believe that salvation is by God alone, as He sovereignly chooses those He will save.

We believe His choice is based on His grace,
not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith.

Christ and God's Covenant

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him alone for salvation.

We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people,
not simply as individuals, but as families in successive generations
according to His Covenant promises.

Kingdom Values

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people
and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly,
to judge all mankind and to receive His people unto Himself.

We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God
under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
